  • How to attend: We encourage participants to join us live for the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the 45-minute presentation. Registration is required to receive the Zoom link. Find the registration link for each session under the webinar schedule below.
  • If you miss the session: Every session will be recorded and distributed to registrants via email and posted on the college’s YouTube channel.
  • Frequency: With the exception of January, sessions will be held on the third Thursday of each month throughout 2026, at either 12:30 p.m. or 7 p.m. See the schedule below for specific session times.

Nursing at Sage and Inspiring Future Nurses Through ICAN 

Date: January 29, 7 p.m.

Dr. Glenda Kelman, Ph.D., RN, ACNP-BC, chair of the Nursing Department, and Dr. Geoffrey Miller, chief values officer and director of the I Can Achieve a Nursing Degree (ICAN) program, will discuss how ICAN, in its third year, is inspiring high schoolers into the healthcare field with meaningful hands-on experiences and mentorship. Dr. Kelman will also offer updates on the expansion of nursing at Sage, including our new Doctor of Nursing Practice program, the return of the RN to B.S. program, and more.

The Denise Taber Finard ’80 Women’s Institute’s Intergenerational Approach to Women’s Leadership

Date: February 19, 7 p.m.

Dr. Eileen Brownell, interim director for the Denise Taber Finard ’80 Women’s Institute, will discuss the exciting intergenerational approach to growing leaders at Russell Sage, as well as professional development opportunities on the horizon. Ambassadors will speak about how their mentorship and service learning experiences have shaped their ideas about leadership in their careers and community.

True Crime and Engaged Learning with the Criminal Investigation Resource Center

Learn about how Dr. Christina Lane, a criminologist, associate professor of criminal justice, and director of our Criminal Investigation Resource Center, is utilizing the talents of our students to help address unsolved cases in partnership with law enforcement. Hear about CIRC’s role in successfully solving decades-old cases and bringing closure to victims’ families.

This Q&A, hosted by Garrett Cobb, assistant athletic director and women’s soccer coach, will feature three student-athletes, including a multi-sport athlete, who will share what they’re learning on and off the field (or court, or track).

Positive Education: Transforming Teacher Training

Date: June 18, 7 p.m.

Sage is the first college in the nation to partner with The Center for Positive Education, ensuring our Esteves School of Education graduates are trained in the philosophy and tools of Positive Education. Positive Education emphasizes principles of Positive Psychology, focusing on teaching a mindset that develops academic tenacity while building emotional and social well-being. It has been shown to improve students’ ability to engage in learning and reduce teacher burnout.

A Great Power for Good: Founding Vision Lived in Service Learning Commitment 

Date: July 16, 12:30 p.m.

Beyond all the good work in the classroom, Sage is a great power for good in the community because of our focus on service learning. Our Sage students and Ali Schaeffing, director of service learning and community engagement and an assistant professor of geography, will share some of the incredible service learning projects Sage has engaged in and talk about how they are transformative as an educational experience and for our community members in need.

We’ll showcase student talent and share what’s happening in our visual and performing arts programs, including Theatre, Musical Theatre, Art + Extended Media, Graphic + Media Design, Interior + Spatial Design, Expressive Arts in Mental Health, and our master’s in Art Education. You’ll also hear about what’s on tap at the Opalka Gallery and Theatre Institute at Russell Sage – two vital community resources.

The RSC Thread: More Than a General Education Curriculum

Hear about our RSC Thread – the signature part of our general education curriculum – and how it provides undergraduate students with the tools they need, helps them to self-reflect, and connects them to vital services, such as the Career and Self-Discovery Center. Our students will offer a sample of our beloved RSC 301 Showcase, where they look back on their required service learning course and how it brings Be. Know. Do. to life.

Before the Merger: Exciting Collaborations with Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

Date: November 19, 12:30 p.m.

Russell Sage and ACPHS are working together on a food as medicine research project leveraging ACPHS’s Collaboratory in Albany’s South End. The effort will reach up to 50 food-insecure households where a family member has Type II Diabetes Mellitus and/or Hypertension. The households will receive food packages especially tailored to their health needs, as well as health monitoring and nutrition counseling during a 24-week period. As we prepare for the merger of ACPHS and Russell Sage in fall 2027, pending regulatory approvals, this is just one example of how faculty are already collaborating on exciting research that can make an impact in the community.

The Dream Partnership: Living Resources and Russell Sage

Date: December 17, 12:30 p.m.

The College Experience Program – a campus-based residential program run by Living Resources that provides young adults with disabilities support, skills, confidence, internships, and work experiences – needed a new home after a college closure. Sage was proud to be selected as the new partner, and Living Resources has called our partnership “nothing short of remarkable.” Learn more about the College Experience Program and other collaborations with Living Resources, including valuable fieldwork placements for our Occupational Therapy students.
